About Temple

The exact date of the establishment of the temple of Lord Shani at Ambedkar Nagar remains unknown. However, it underwent renovation for more than five years. In 2015, the laying of roads in front of the temple caused the temple to sink four feet below the ground, leading to the ingress of rain and drainage water into the temple.

The regular visitors to the temple, devotees from the Lokanadham family, decided to take charge of the temple’s renovation. With the help of local leaders, government officials, and politicians, the renovation was completed in 2021.

Apart from Lord Shani, other deities such as Lord Ganesha, Lord Murugan, Lord Shiva, and Parvathi are also worshipped in this temple. In addition, the temple premises also house the temples of Goddess Jalagiramma and Yellama.

Every Saturday, Maha mangalarathi is done at 7:00pm followed by annadhanam which is sponsored by the devotees in this temple.

Main Attraction

According to tradition, seeing the Gopura is equivalent to seeing God, and therefore, one is absolved of sins. Elders say that morning Gopura Darshan is auspicious. In many temples, devotees see the Gopura from outside the temple or from a distance. However, in our temple, the Gopuram can be seen from inside the temple while taking the Dharshan of the idol of Lord Shani in the sanctum.
